100% Water based inks

13 May 2026

Pakaflex announced today that it has completed its move to more environmentally friendly water-based inks.  This change removes volatile organic carbon (VOC) emissions completely, and unlike the old solvent-based inks, the new inks are totally non-flammable. This means there are huge reductions in the risk of fire.   Pakaflex is believed to be the first plastic film printing business in Asia & Pacific to make the switch across the board.

Advances in Acrylic technology not only made this change possible, but also made it the right thing to do.

Changing the ink systems was a huge task, taking nearly a year of testing, trials and we are appreciative of our ink partners by getting the latest technology, and in specially formulating their inks for us. Key in making the change was the ink mixing system and laser anilox cleaning systems we have installed.  We especially thank some of our key customers for evaluating the print in real life packing and WorkSafe Victoria who worked with us to facilitate the change.

For our customers, the new inks are brighter, more scratch resistant, UV fade resistant, non-slippery and of course printed with no VOC emissions at all!
